With Codecademy launching the Code Year project, and the subsequent launch of Code.org non-profit, there has been a growing movement of people saying that everybody should learn how to program, and even that programming should be included in the new definition of literacy for the 21st century.
Considering how much we depend on technology, and therefore on code, it is not a bad idea for more people to have at least a basic understanding of what’s going on “behind the scenes” of all that software they use and depend on every day.
So even if you don’t necessarily intend to become a professional programmer you might want to dip in a bit and see how it feels. You’re almost guaranteed to learn something cool. And if it turns out you love it so much you’d want to keep going more power to you. So here are the sites that make learning programming, from basics to advanced level, super fun!
