12. Root the Device (Advanced)
Advanced Android users can consider rooting the device to improve the overall Android performance. By taking this action on the core Linux kernel of the OS, the user will obtain administrator level access that gives permissions to remove apps installed at the factory that are not used to save memory and performance. More advanced users can even flash the device with a custom ROM that is a better fit for performance or utility, and there is more freedom for operating system (OS) updates when the phone is rooted. Taking this action; however, will typically void any warranty from a manufacturer and is not recommended for users who are new to the task. If the root tasking is done incorrectly, it can result in making the device unusable, or being “bricked.”
