    Nerds and geeks, though sometimes overlapping, tend to view the world around them differently. Geeks are normally much more focused on macroscopic details while nerds are more interested in not only what they are currently viewing but how it relates to other stimuli such as books and news articles. Geeks tend to be able to befriend and date people of diverse social groups whereas nerds are normally more interested in being around people who share their similar interests. It is commonly assumed that nerds enjoy escaping life whereas geeks embrace it.
